An Opinion is Valuable as a Contribution

Been thinking about this one - 1 glaring fault of mine is that I am opinionated. Something I heard made me think about when this is a fault - because obviously opinions are valuable in all kinds of settings. The statement I heard was that opinions are valuable when we offer them to someone and we offer them as a contribution to the other person. Otherwise, it is just me being "self-righteous". So I have been practicing this.

  1. This is also interesting, because I LOVE to be opinionated. I like to HAVE a definite opinion. In my opinion(!) it means you know how to think and come to a conclusion about something, or you now know what you like or don't. Positively. More people should have opinions about more things than they do, esp. if they are over 21. PUSHING your opinions on others or expecting them to agree with you is another thing, and I try not to do that. But, I think everyone should be able, without offending others, to state their opinion if they feel like it. "It's just MY opinion, you can think what you like with it!"
Someday, I should write up a list of all my opinions---that would amuse me, because I LIKE my opinions!
So, maybe I should re-read what you wrote and think about OFFERING opinions as a contribution...

  2. Yes, on the same wavelength. When someone has NO opinions, that is equally as frustrating - "Where do you want to eat?" "I DON'T KNOW" - no opinion. "Where do you want to go?" "I DON'T KNOW" . .
